What Are Genes and What do They Do?
In this session, I introduce you to what genes are and how they create proteins. I compare the binary code of computers with the DNA code of genes. Binary code creates letters which are strung together to create words. DNA code creates "codons" which translate into amino acids. Amino acids are strung together to create proteins. I also talk about spelling errors in the protein recipes that genes create, and how those spelling errors create the traits that differentiate us as humans.
